The canonical texts of the New Testament are well known and studied, but variety number extant early Christian noncanonical texts, also as Apocrypha, have not been widely recognized. Thanks to stellar work numerous translators editorial Tony Burke, many more these now available with introductions in English translation through two volumes (soon be three) Apocrypha: More Noncanonical Scriptures. In series articles this special section Studies Religion, three scholars (Ronald Charles, Sean Hannan Mona Tokarek LaFosse) review second volume series, published by Eerdmans 2020, which is followed a detailed response Burke. reviews were originally presented at joint session annual meeting Canadian Society Biblical Patristic Studies/Association canadienne des études patristiques May 2022. encourage religion consider how ancient might contribute larger contemporary conversations around coloniality, diversity, pedagogy storytelling, demonstrating value collaborative scholarship.
